“I really like Matthew 5:16,” said Andrew, in response to my query about what my next Faith Focus should be. (This conversation happened back in December 2021, but hey, all good things in time, right?!)
I quickly typed it into google to pull up the scripture.
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
“It’s the motto for how we want to live. We want people to look at us and think, ‘Wow, there’s something different about them.’
We want people to enjoy being around us– that they don’t know what it is, but they know we have something (the holy spirit), so that we are a beacon for God.”
“Rather than tackling people and saying, ‘Let me tell you about Jesus,’ Mikayla added, “we want them to come to us asking what makes us have so much peace. It opens an opportunity for us to minister to people about how they can have a life like this.”
Later, when I asked him to talk about it more, he said he had nothing to add.
That was over two years ago.
Just recently, I found this post in my drafts. I sat on it a bit, not sure how to finish it out. But really, there’s nothing more that needs to be added, is there?
There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.
