29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”

Depending on which perspective you embrace, 1 Samuel 15:29 can either be a hard scripture, or it can be a healing and heartening scripture.

Trust is a determining factor in whether you feel encouraged or frustrated.

“I promise.”

Pinky promises, heartfelt assertions.

Pledges. Vows. Covenants.

Often (but not always) spoken in sincerity. At one time or another, though, someone will let us down.

They will not honor their word or commitment.

We may feel we can never trust again.

Consequently, it can be hard to believe or trust anyone.

Fortunately, God is not just ‘anyone’.

Good news, gamblers! If ever there is a time to gamble on trusting someone, God is the safe bet.  You know how they say “The house always wins”? He IS the house and He always prevails in the end.

When God makes a commitment, you can rest in the security of his promise.

It may be not be on the timeline you want, or even the form or fashion you expect, but his word is the ultimate assurance.
