Faith Focus – John 15:7

Star Light, Star Bright
‘Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight,
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this wish I wish tonight.’

All of us can remember a wish, or a prayer we’ve made… In fact, several probably come to mind.

On a lighter note, I can think of several spankings I prayed to get out of in my childhood.  And more than one occasion when I wished that a test I had not studied for would be postponed. And, of course, there were (and still are) the wishes, pleas and prayers I make to God that are of infinitely more significance than a test score or a spanking.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you,

ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

The Ask.

Sometimes it is the hardest thing in the world to ask for help.

I find it hard to ask.  It’s hard for me to:

  • ask for grace
  • ask for forgiveness
  • ask for direction & guidance
  • ask for help

In some contexts, my ‘asks’ are better described as prayers, so today’s faith focus is appropriate.

If you remain in me and my words remain in you,

ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

So, here goes….

Lord, I am a hot mess. Will you please help me?
