Session 11: Revisiting my Goals

Isn’t accountability the worst?  When I started therapy, I told Ken upfront that I was READY to do the work, and not to ever accept my BS.  Not many people have stood up to me when I get “on a roll” or turn on the full force of my personality. I’ve even been called a “steamroller”, more than once. OUCH. So I told him:

Calling me out on my BS is essential to my personal growth.

So he did.  Thanks a lot, Ken.

We spent this session revisiting the question: Why am I in therapy?

And since he is big on accountability (and because I asked for it), I had to answer:

To gain tools that will help me be more successful in relationships-  intimate, family and all others.

Take the time to consistently revisit my goals~ short-term & long-term.

Where do I want to be in six weeks?

Where do I want to be in three months?

Where do I want to be in six months?

Where do I want to be in a year?

What is my ultimate goal and how committed am I to it?

What work am I doing to meet my milestones?

Some goals require consistent and ongoing effort.  There is no “finish line”.

Most importantly: Am I being authentic with myself?
